Job summary

Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 seeks a High School Science Department Coordinator to provide leadership and organizational support for science education at the high school level. The role focuses on coordinating department activities, supporting the Division Chair, and promoting a collaborative culture that advances student growth.

The Coordinator will help with master scheduling, room assignments, and course offerings while collaborating with school and district leaders.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating a department and supporting school-level goals.
• Ability to analyze department data to support PLCs and IITs.
• Strong communication with Division Chair and staff.
• Ability to organize materials and manage scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Initiate communication with the Division Chair regarding departmental topics and share information with outside parties for transparency and support.
• Review and contribute to weekly Department Coordinator and Division Chair meeting agendas.
• Contribute input for annual Department Work Plan Goals.
• Facilitate department meetings in the Division Chair's absence.
• Provide scheduling recommendations for rooms, course offerings, and master schedule development.
• Assist with school activities outside the contractual day as needed (e.g., events, ceremonies).
• Review student data with the Division Chair to support teachers.
• Maintain professional development and staff training needs for department staff.
• Monitor and analyze department data relating to PLCs, IITs, and district goals.
• Maintain textbook and course material documents.
• Suggest hiring, training, and development of support staff within the department.
• Assist with student teacher appointments and communications with universities and internal staff.
• Support other departmental tasks as they arise and uphold leadership expectations.
