Job summary

Qualifications

- Experience in urban district preferred.
Responsibilities
- Serve as liaison among home, school, and community resources.
- Assess and treat illness; manage chronic conditions.
- Provide emergency care and participate in health screenings.
- Develop individualized healthcare plans in collaboration with families.
- Administer medications and vaccinations as required.
- Train staff and educate students and families about health.
- Maintain health records and complete MADPH reports.
- Collaborate with school team and physicians.

Develop, implement and manage health services for the school population.
- Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
- A Bachelor's degree in nursing, Master's degree preferred
- Certified by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a school nurse or able to meet the requirements for licensure
- Two years experience in child health, community health, or other relevant clinical nursing settings
- Certification in American Heart Association or Red Cross CPR/AED
- Ability to provide emergency care/assessment
- Knowledge of professional and legal requirements
- Human relations skills
- Organizational/administrative skills
- Knowledge of child growth and development
- Ability to effectively use local resources
- Techniques in health counseling/guidance
- Ability to deliverstudent/staff/parent presentations
- Strong district lens regarding EL, curriculum, and equity
- Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations
- Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
- Experience in an urban district/setting preferred
- Basic computer skills including data entry and word-processing

- Prepare andsubmit MADPHreports
- Work with the school physician
- Any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor

Salary As negotiated with Lynn School Committee and AFSCME Council 93, Local 3147-A
