Job summary

Community Unit School District 308 is seeking a School Webmaster to manage the school’s website and pages in line with district standards during the website redesign. You will post stories and update calendars, and coordinate with staff and the district communications team.

This part-time stipend position (Schedule A, Category 2) is appointed by the principal and requires basic HTML/CSS, familiarity with web tools, and photo editing. Excellent communication and independence are essential.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of HTML, CSS, graphics, W3C and web standards.
• Knowledge of some web development environment tools (Dreamweaver, Visual Studio, FrontPage).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Fundamentals of photo editing (Adobe Photoshop).
• Basic understanding of web design.
• Content management knowledge (Preferred).
• Ability to solve basic code problems.

Responsibilities

• Posting news stories onto the school's web page according to District standards.
• Training teachers and staff on how to create and manage teacher and group pages.
• Managing the school's website calendar.
• Managing and posting to the school's social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter).
• Managing and updating photos and photo slideshows on the school's site according to district standards.
• Sharing at least one story per month with the School District 308 Communications Department featuring an event, students or staff from the school (no more than 150 words).
• Serving as the school's primary contact for all building-level questions regarding the website.
• Attend training, webinars and informational sessions as needed (monthly/quarterly).
• Receiving and sharing tips, issues and topics of discussion amongst all district web page masters.
• Writing and editing content for school's website.
• Designing webpage layout (as needed).
• Determining technical requirements.
• Updating school website.
• Creating backup files.
