Job summary

ServingSchools in Maine is seeking a School Van Driver to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, field trips, and residential neighborhoods.

The role reports to the Transportation Director and requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Maine driver’s license with an excellent driving record, and the ability to interact well with students, staff and the community. A CHRC, annual physical, and adherence to drug-testing policies are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) required.
• Valid Maine driver’s license with excellent driving record.
• Pass annual physical.
• Comply with RSU 40's drug testing policies.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to interact well with students, staff and community.

Responsibilities

• Follow instructions and communicate as necessary.
• Obey all traffic laws.
• Follow all mandatory safety regulations.
• Supervise students and maintain discipline in the vehicle for safety.
• Keep the assigned vehicle clean.
• Understand routes to maintain schedule effectively and efficiently.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report defects.
