Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a Van Driver for its ELSC - Transportation in Cedar Rapids, IA. The role involves transporting students on morning and afternoon routes, with a nine-month schedule and summers off.

Training covers 15-passenger or smaller vehicles, with a starting wage during training and higher pay after completion. The position is safety sensitive and requires a valid Class B CDL, FMCSA compliance, and strong student-management and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Obtain and maintain a valid Class B CDL license with proper endorsement.
• Obtain and maintain a valid DOT physical and Medical Certificate per FMCSA requirements.
• Pass pre-employment and all subsequent agility tests and driving history checks.
• Pass pre-employment and periodic background checks and pre-employment substance screening.
• Pass all random alcohol and/or drug tests and any required coaching or training.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport CRCSD students to and from school and activities.
• Effectively manage student behavior and maintain a cooperative attitude with students, staff, and community.
• Maintain professional communication with parents, school personnel, and the Transportation team.
• Complete all required trainings, meetings, and professional development.
• Ensure vehicle cleanliness and readiness, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
