As a School Van Driver, you will prioritize safety, communicate with school staff about delays or rider needs, and help students board and exit the vehicle with appropriate supervision.

JB Safety 1st Transportation is seeking a part-time School Van Driver to help ensure safe, reliable transportation for students. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK PART TIME SPLIT SHIFT POSITION. MUST BE ABLE TO START AS EARLY AS 6AM.

Position Summary

The School Van Driver provides safe and dependable daily transportation for primarily special needs students, following established routes and schedules. This role is essential to creating a positive rider experience through punctual pickups and drop-offs, clear communication, and responsible vehicle handling.

As a School Van Driver, you will prioritize safety at all times, maintain a professional presence, and help ensure students arrive to and from school and related activities on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Knowledge of proper care needed when working with students with special needs.

• Safely operate a school van while transporting students according to route plans and time schedules

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly

• Assist students as needed with boarding and exiting the vehicle, maintaining appropriate supervision

• Follow all traffic laws, school transportation policies, and established safety procedures

• Communicate effectively with school personnel regarding schedule changes, delays, or rider needs

Required Qualifications

• Ability to drive safely and follow directions consistently in a fast-paced environment

• PASS FBI BCI BACKGROUND SCREENING.

• Strong punctuality and reliability, with a commitment to meeting daily route times

• Basic understanding of safe driving practices and vehicle safety procedures

• Ability to maintain a calm, respectful demeanor while working with students

• Willingness to follow all safety and transportation rules and guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience driving a passenger vehicle or working in a transportation-related role

• Familiarity with student transportation practices and maintaining rider discipline and safety

• Experience handling schedules and route changes with professionalism

• Clean driving record and a strong safety mindset

Compensation

Hourly rate: $16.00 - $18.00
