Job summary

AVONDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Transportation Lead to support school sites and the transportation department in creating transportation opportunities for students participating in extracurricular activities.

The role requires driving responsibility, safety leadership, and collaboration with the Transportation Supervisor and Operations staff. Strong computer skills and the ability to train drivers are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona commercial driver’s license with passenger and air brake endorsement.
• Must possess at least one year experience in the operation of a school bus and school bus equipment.
• Must possess an Arizona School Bus Driver Certificate by meeting state requirements and standards.

Responsibilities

• Drives school bus on scheduled route transporting students to and from school.
• Transports students on educational field trips and sporting events, local and out of town.
• Maintains order among the passengers and enforces district standards of conduct on buses.
• Conducts emergency evacuation drills twice yearly.
• Administers first-aid when necessary.
• Maintains interior and exterior of the bus neat and clean.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections as specified in regulations.
• Keeps record of gas and oil usage and mileage as required.
• Learn, implement and manage rider verification and routing software.
