Job summary

The Avon Community School Corporation is seeking a Transportation Routing Coordinator to manage daily routing operations for student transportation. You will maintain route data, assign students to services, coordinate with drivers and staff, and help with long-term planning using VersaTrans and related systems.

This full-time, 40-hour-per-week position features hourly pay starting at $22.25 with benefits including medical and dental insurance and PERF retirement.

Qualifications

• Education: HS diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Certification: Valid driver's license; CDL with endorsements if required.
• Experience: Experience in school transportation, logistics, dispatching, or related fields preferred.
• Skills: Routing software, mapping tools, and data systems; strong communication and collaboration.
• Other: Ability to remain calm and professional when addressing families or community members.

Responsibilities

• Conduct annual evaluations of bus stops to identify safety concerns and verify student counts.
• Assign new and transfer students to bus routes daily and communicate updates to drivers and staff.
• Maintain accurate route files and update general education routing directions.
• Monitor student counts to ensure buses operate within capacity guidelines.
• Communicate with drivers regarding routing directions, stop locations, and potential hazards.
• Assist with daily placement of substitute drivers and aides based on route needs.
• Incorporate GPS and mapping data for new developments into VersaTrans.
• Coordinate daily data downloads to VersaTrans and troubleshoot system issues with tech staff.
• Facilitate training for staff on the VersaTrans routing system and ensure consistent practices.
• Monitor district growth and planned developments to anticipate transportation needs.
• Support routing and logistics for summer transportation and redistricting data.
