Job summary

BookLoop seeks a School Support Coordinator in Omaha, NE to assist teachers and manage the school support cycle. The role is non-exempt, 15–20 hours per week, with morning hours roughly 8:30am to noon, Monday through Friday, reporting to the Director of Programs.

Responsibilities include data management, inventory control, school visits, and collaboration with school staff to provide BookLoop books and improve literacy outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience supporting teachers or students in an educational setting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Support BookLoop by partnering with teachers and school staff to deliver books to students.
  • Create and maintain teacher resource materials and document templates.
  • Collect, input, and analyze program data; maintain inventory of materials.
  • Plan and conduct school visits and communicate with school leadership, teachers, and staff to deliver the BookLoop program.

Job description

Job Title: School Support Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Programs

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Compensation: $20 to $24 per hour

Hours Per Week: 15 to 20 hours per week

Schedule: Mornings; approximately 830am to noon, Monday through Friday

Summary: The School Support Coordinator supports the BookLoop mission of ensuring students have a book to read at home every single night. The School Support Coordinator is responsible for supporting BookLoop teachers by managing the school support cycle and maintaining program data. The goal is to expose students to reading, give them the opportunity to have a great book to read every day, and improve literacy outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The position requires reliable transportation for daily transportation to and from program locations; mileage is reimbursed at the IRS rate. This position also requires occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds.

  • Implementation of BookLoop Mission and Strategy – Support BookLoop by working with and supporting teachers and school system staff to introduce BookLoop’s classroom-based program and respond to their needs in providing BookLoop books to students.
  • Organizational Support – Creates and maintains teacher resource material and document templates.
  • Organizational Operations – Collects, inputs, and analyzes program data. Maintains BookLoop inventory of materials. Collaborates with staff to carry out program activities.
  • School Community Relations – Plans and conducts school visits. Communicates with and provides support to school leadership, teachers, and support staff for delivery of the BookLoop program

This position reports directly to the Director of Programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Professional Qualifications, Education and Experience Needed

High School degree or equivalent

One or more years of customer engagement, classroom support, or similar experience

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Experience in assisting with technology applications and hardware

Ability to develop short-term plans and manage multiple priorities

Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy

Work Schedule

This position follows the OPS elementary student calendar and is a renewable 10-month position. Start date is August 3, 2026, end date is May 31, 2027, with return on August 1, 2027. The non-working days of this position mirror the non-student attendance days of OPS.
