Job summary

Boulder Valley School District is seeking a School Support Assistant to provide clerical, communication, and operational support for daily school operations.

You will serve as a main contact, manage student information and attendance, assist administrators and counselors, and support health room and office functions.

This position requires a high school diploma and at least one year of secretarial experience; BVSD online application is required.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year clerical experience.
  • Must be proficient in English (read/write/speak).
  • Completed BVSD online application.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary point of contact for building front-office reception, visitor management, and inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate student records in the Student Information System, including enrollments and demographics.
  • Maintain attendance records and assist with attendance processes and October Count verification.
  • Provide clerical, communication, and operational support to the school community, routing messages and coordinating routine processes.
  • Provide backup support in the health room and support the school nurse and office operations.
  • Provide backup support to the School Office Manager and assist with staff discipline referrals as needed.
  • Support before/after school care for students and other duties as assigned.

Job description

Summary:

The School Support Assistant provides comprehensive clerical, communication, and operational support to ensure safe and efficient daily school operations. Essential duties include serving as a primary point of contact for the building; composing, compiling, and distributing school communications; processing attendance requests and transactions; supporting required reporting; maintaining student records and databases; supporting student open enrollment and registration; assisting administrators and counselors; and providing backup support to the School Office Manager and healthroom operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for building by providing front-office reception services, supporting visitor management and building security procedures, responding to inquiries, and directing individuals to appropriate personnel in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate student records in Student Information Systems, including enrollment, withdrawals, schedules, contact and emergency information, immunization records, records requests, and other student information as directed.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance records and ensure that attendance is recorded in a timely manner by staff and information submitted by parents/guardians is recorded in Student Information Systems, and support the principal and District Attendance Advocate with attendance concerns, family follow-up, and October Count verification.
  • Provide clerical, communication, and operational support to the school community, including managing information, routing messages, coordinating routine processes, collecting and filing student permission slips, composing, maintaining, and distributing communications, supporting daily school operations, and supervising student office assistants as assigned.
  • Provide backup support in the health room and support students with delegated tasks from the school nurse and building administrators. Including but not limited to meds, emerg. etc.
  • Provide backup support to the School Office Manager as directed by the Principal.
  • Support staff with discipline referrals and procedures when the principal or other designee is unavailable. Provide before and after school support for students left unattended by parents/guardians.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience in secretarial or clerical work.
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
