The School Substitute provides temporary support for teachers, aides, clerical staff, custodial personnel, and other school employees when regular staff members are absent. Responsibilities may include following lesson plans, supervising students, maintaining a safe and orderly classroom environment, assisting with instructional activities, and supporting school policies and procedures. Substitutes are expected to maintain a positive, respectful, and professional atmosphere while interacting with students, staff, parents, and administrators. Depending on the assignment, duties may include monitoring hallways, assisting with arrival and dismissal, supervising lunch or recess, completing routine clerical tasks, or performing basic support services. Successful candidates demonstrate reliability, flexibility, sound judgment, patience, and effective communication skills. School Substitutes must follow established safety procedures, maintain confidentiality, and promptly report concerns to appropriate school personnel. Assignments and schedules may vary based on district needs. Prior experience working with children or in a school setting is preferred but may not be required.
