Job summary

ONC Boces is actively seeking substitute staff to support teachers and school communities in local districts. Flexible hours and a chance to gain a foothold in a school career are offered.

Substitutes provide temporary support as teachers, aides, clerical staff or custodial personnel when regular staff are absent, following lesson plans and maintaining a positive environment. Assignments vary by district and prior experience with children is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Reliable, flexible, patient, and professional demeanor.
• Strong communication with students, staff and parents.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and school policies.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans provided by teachers.
• Supervise students and maintain a safe, orderly classroom.
• Assist with instructional activities and school procedures.
• Support arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess as assigned.
• Uphold confidentiality and report concerns to staff.
