Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a School Social Worker to support students in a diverse Warren, MI area. The role runs during a maternity leave from Oct 2026 through Feb 2027, delivering direct services and advocacy for K-12 students and focusing on social, emotional, and behavioral well-being.

You will collaborate with teachers, counselors, and families, manage IEP/504 processes, and provide group and individual counseling.

Qualifications

• Valid SSW certification or state licensure aligned with school social work requirements.
• Experience supporting K-12 students in school settings preferred.
• Understanding of IEP and 504 processes and procedures.
• Strong collaborative skills to engage with teachers, counselors, and families.
• Excellent communication, empathy, and advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual and small-group counseling sessions in 30-minute blocks.
• Serve approximately 14 students 24 times per month (minimum 14 hours/month), and 16 students 12 times per month (minimum 8 hours/month).
• Support a caseload of 30 IEP/504 students, with the possibility of up to 4 additional students pending current evaluations.
• Work primarily with elementary school children, with some involvement with middle and high schoolers.
• Assist with the development, monitoring, and evaluation of IEP and 504 plans.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop intervention strategies and safeguard student welfare.

Step into a vital role supporting student well-being as a contract School Social Worker in a diverse educational environment near Warren, MI.
