Distinctive Schools in Chicago, IL seeks a School Social Worker for the 2026-2027SY to support students’ social, emotional, and academic growth. You will collaborate with the student support team, special education staff, and families to create safe, inclusive learning environments and effective intervention plans.

The role emphasizes crisis response, compliance, and ongoing communication with parents and district partners. A MSW and ISBE PEL are required, with Illinois licensure beneficial.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree in School Social Work (MSW).
• PEL endorsement in School Support Personnel from ISBE.
• Illinois license in social work (LSW or LCSW) may be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Attend student problem-solving meetings to identify at‑risk students and create intervention plans.
• Conduct classroom observations to identify behavioral supports and provide strategies.
• As part of evaluation processes, interview parents for socio-developmental information for IEPs.
• Review student records to identify barriers to learning and prior interventions.
• Provide individual and group counseling as outlined in IEPs or intervention plans.
• Meet with staff to implement evidence-based social-emotional practices.
• Fulfill mandated reporter duties and participate in crisis intervention activities.
• Complete IEP documentation timely and maintain compliance training attendance.
• Maintain schedules, records, and liaison with community agencies.
