Job summary

The School District of Lee County in Lehigh Acres, FL, is seeking a School Social Worker to support students and families within the Harns Marsh Middle area. You will liaise among home, school, and community while addressing attendance, academics, and wellbeing needs.

The role requires an MSW with K-12 field placement or equivalent licensure, with strong communication, privacy law knowledge, and a commitment to ethical practice in a dynamic school setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 300 hours of field placement in a K-12 setting from an accredited program.
• Florida teaching certificate in school social work or a valid Clinical Social Worker License.
• Experience managing business/department functions and staff preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma certification or related industry credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison between home, school, and community.
• Advocate for children ensuring that students’ and families’ rights are observed.
• Interview students and parents to discuss issues related to non-attendance and develop a plan of action.
• Assist the school in following Board regulations for excessive absences and truancy; attend truancy intervention meetings and court proceedings.
• Serve on the Child Study Team to assist students with attendance, academics, social, emotional, and health needs.
• Collaborate with local school personnel and community agencies to provide coordinated evaluation and planning.
• Conduct home visits to access families and offer support in response to referrals.
• Provide individual and group counseling in response to school-wide crises.
• Maintain complete, up-to-date records as required by law and policy.
• Adhere to NASW Professional Code of Ethics.
