The Illinois Association of School Administrators is seeking a School Social Worker to help students and families make the best use of opportunities and resources and to fully develop each student’s potential.

The role collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team, provides direct services under the student’s IEP, supports attendance, counseling, crisis intervention, and liaison work with families and community partners to foster a safe, supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• Current and valid license or appropriate endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Participates as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the evaluation process.
• Consults with school personnel on student interventions to support learning environment.
• Provides direct services and interventions per the student's IEP.
• Works with administrators, staff, parents, students and community agencies.
• Promotes regular school attendance.
• Provides individual counseling and facilitates group sessions.
• Supports safe, caring, and drug-free schools.
• Addresses self-esteem and anger management with students.
• Provides crisis intervention services.
• Serves as liaison between school, family and community.
• Refers students and parents to community services.
• Interprets school policies for families.
• Understands and applies laws and policies related to students and families.
• Maintains case records and documentation.
• Performs other duties as assigned by administration.

Education
