Job Summary: The school social worker provides needs-based behavioral and social-emotional services to students, parents, and faculty/staff. Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, consultation, assessment, behavior planning, intervention, and prevention of social-emotional concerns.

Schedule:

• Full-time (10 Month Contract)
• 2025-2026 School Year
• Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 3:45 pm, Thursdays until 4:00 pm
• Optional five-week Extended School Year Program

Requirements:

• Master's Degree in Social Work
• Illinois School Services Personnel Certificate with Social Work Endorsement (Type 73)
• Experience with special education students and knowledge of CBT preferred
• Experience writing social histories and behavior plans
• Experience providing staff professional development

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Participate in developing and implementing program policies
• Assess social and emotional needs; provide counseling
• Follow up on referrals; coordinate services with agencies
• Establish outside agency linkages
• Present at staff meetings and assemblies
• Write measurable IEP goals
• Advocate for students; mediate between parents, child, and school
• Respond to crisis situations
• Attend team meetings; participate in after-school activities
• Perform other duties as required

About Us: The Cove School is a non-public therapeutic day school for students with learning disabilities in Northbrook, IL, serving students from 60 nearby public schools and private tuition. We offer small classes, flexible teaching, and collaborative services with onsite specialists.
