Job summary

Central Jersey College Prep Charter School (CJCP) seeks a Security Teacher to help maintain a safe and orderly learning environment for students and staff. The role focuses on monitoring grounds, controlling access, responding to incidents, and supporting drills with professionalism and discretion. Candidates must have a valid SORA license and NJ Criminal History; U.S.

work authorization is required. AED/CPR certification is preferred but can be obtained after employment, with a minimum of one

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Valid SORA license is required.
  • AED/CPR certification is preferred but must be willing to obtain upon employment.
  • Minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in a security-related field.
  • NJ Criminal History; Work authorization in the U.S.; Tuberculosis test; Experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Monitor school grounds, control access to the building, assist in emergencies, and collaborate with school personnel to maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Respond to incidents, enforce school policies and regulations, and provide support during drills or crises.
  • Notify building administration, police, and/or appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency or potentially dangerous situations.
  • Monitor and assist students during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Assist with student supervision during breakfast and lunch periods.
  • Incident management and reporting involves assisting disruptive students by removing them from the classroom and escorting them to the appropriate supervisor or administrator.
  • Promote student responsibility by modeling positive behavior, maintaining professionalism, ensuring confidentiality, and encouraging students to follow safety protocols.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community, while showing integrity and initiative.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Security, Building Principal, or other appropriate building/district administrators.

Security Teacher

Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensuring a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Monitoring school grounds, controlling access to the building, assisting in emergency situations, and collaborating with school personnel to maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Responding to incidents, enforcing school policies and regulations, and providing support during drills or crises.
  • Follows building procedures during emergencies or disasters and ensures they are executed effectively.
  • Notifies building administration, police, and/or appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency, potentially dangerous, or unusual situations.
  • Monitors and assists students during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Ensures students move efficiently through the hallways and arrive on time to class or assigned locations.
  • Assists with student supervision during breakfast and lunch periods.
  • Incident management and reporting involves assisting disruptive students by removing them from the classroom and escorting them to the appropriate supervisor or administrator
  • Notifying appropriate personnel when evidence of substance abuse, abuse, neglect, severe medical, social conditions, and potential suicide.
  • Promoting student responsibility involves modeling positive behavior, maintaining professionalism, ensuring confidentiality, and encouraging students to follow safety protocols.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community, while showing integrity and initiative.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Security, Building Principal, or other appropriate building/district administrators.
  • Communicates responsibly with students, colleagues, and school leadership;
  • Accounts for the whereabouts of students, staff, and visitors
  • Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures;
  • Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities;
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Valid Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) License is required.
  • AED/CPR Certification is preferred but must be willing to obtain upon employment.
  • Minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in a security-related field.
  • NJ Criminal History;
  • Work authorization in the U.S.;
  • Tuberculosis Test;
  • Experience is a plus.
