Job summary

Bentonville Schools seeks a Commissioned School Security Officer (CSSO) to patrol school buildings, protect students and staff, and collaborate with the Director of Security and Safety and the principal.

The role includes supporting School Resource Officers, logging visitors, monitoring entrances, enforcing safety policies, and reporting incidents to maintain a safe educational climate.

Qualifications

• Requires 60 hours of training including firearms qualification and state police exam; exempt for certified law enforcement officers.
• Background checks (national and state) must be passed.
• Experience in law enforcement or recent military; experience with adolescents preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol school buildings to ensure safety and security for students, staff, and visitors.
• Support School Resource Officers and carry firearm with authorization.
• Enforce district policies on safety, conduct, and property; report incidents to supervisors.
• Monitor entrances/exits, assist visitors, and maintain visitor logs.
