Job summary

Cardinal Point is seeking a school security officer for a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM during the school year, with occasional after-school or weekend events. There may be crossover assignments during school breaks based on availability and business needs.

The role requires patrolling entrances and common areas, supporting visitor management and access control, and using de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Active cell phone and reliable email access.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional appearance and student-appropriate demeanor.
• Ability to pass required background screening and drug testing.
• Willingness to complete all required K-12 clearances and training.
• Ability to walk up to 10,000 steps and stand for extended periods.
• No disqualifying criminal convictions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible, professional presence throughout the school.
• Patrol entrances, hallways, common areas, grounds, and safety hot spots.
• Support visitor management and access-control procedures.
• Identify suspicious behavior and report concerns early.
• Use verbal de-escalation during student, parent, and staff conflicts.
• Build professional relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
• Respond calmly during emergencies and critical incidents.
• Communicate by radio and write clear, factual incident reports.
• Arrive on time, look sharp, stay engaged, and remain consistent.
