Job summary

Dutchess BOCES is seeking a Special Education Teacher to maximize learning for students with special needs by implementing district curriculum and documenting progress. You will create a safe, supportive classroom environment and address individual student needs.

Under the Principal's supervision, you will participate in IEP development, PPT meetings, and coordinate with families and outside agencies while maintaining records and applying current best practices in special education.

Qualifications

• State Certification as a Special Education Teacher.
• Bachelor's degree in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
• Master's Degree in Special Education.
• Science teaching background for secondary level preferred.
• Successful prior special education teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement district-approved curriculum for students with special needs.
• Document teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes.
• Develop and implement IEPs and participate in PPT meetings.
• Coordinate with outside agencies and families as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and assist in behavioral management plans.
