Job summary

Clayton County Public Schools in Jonesboro, GA seeks a School Resource Officer to provide law enforcement services on campus, investigate incidents, enforce laws, and build a safe environment through positive relationships with students and staff.

This 225‑day position reports to the Sergeant, pays on a step scale ($47,637–$58,592), requires GA POST certification, a high school diploma or GED, and strong communication, judgment, and crowd-control skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required; college degree preferred.
• Must be GA P.O.S.T. Certified and Peace Officer certification in good standing.
• Must be 21+ years old with a valid Driver's License.
• Excellent communication with students, staff and stakeholders.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and manage behavior.

Responsibilities

• Be visible in the school community and attend functions.
• Develop and present law-related education for staff and students.
• Patrol facilities and operate security systems as needed.
• Coordinate security for events and assist other law enforcement agencies.
