Job summary

The City of Burlington, NC is seeking a Police Officer to perform general law enforcement duties, patrol, and investigate incidents across the City of Burlington. You will engage with the community, maintain public safety, and uphold department policy and state laws.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, NC BLET certification, POPAT, and at least two years of sworn experience. A valid NC driver's license and U.S. citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• BLET Certification with Certification by the NC CJ Standards Commission.
• POPAT successful passing.
• Minimum of two (2) years sworn law enforcement experience.
• Valid NC Driver's License in Good Standing.
• United States Citizen or Naturalized Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Patrols areas, responds to incidents and emergencies, and investigates criminal activity on property.
• Builds positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and administrators while serving as a resource.
• Provides safety and crime-prevention education and collaborates with partners on safety concerns.
• Conducts investigations, prepares reports, and assists prosecutors as needed.
• Serves criminal papers, conducts arrests, and directs traffic as warranted.
