The Town of Clayton is seeking a School Resource Officer for the Clayton Police Department. The role provides police presence in elementary, middle, and high schools and requires collaboration with school staff and administration.
The officer will patrol campuses, handle calls, direct traffic, and participate in school events while enforcing laws and maintaining safety within the district. Applicants need a high school diploma and NC BLET enrollment, with a strong emphasis on community relations.

The Town of Clayton is seeking applicants for a School Resource Officer for our Clayton Police Department. The Town of Clayton employs more than 340 full‑time staff in areas including police, fire, and electric utilities. The Town of Clayton also offers a range of PT positions including positions in Parks & Rec, Library, and Cultural Arts. The School Resource Officer is in the Police Department and reports to the Police Sergeant and or Police Lieutenant.

The purpose of this position is to perform a full range of general law enforcement duties within the high school, middle schools, and elementary schools.
A normal schedule is associated with this position which involves working 40 hours per week within a Monday‑Friday timeframe (specific times set by supervisor). Subject to call back work on nights, weekends and holidays as required.

When a salary range is posted, the actual salary will be based on relevant competencies, knowledge, skills & abilities, internal equity and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position.
