Qualifications

Responsibilities

• With a multidisciplinary team, gather data and administer evaluations for students with mild to severe needs.
• Maintain currency in special education laws and document timelines and notifications.
• Provide ongoing communication with parents throughout the evaluation process.
• Interpret district/ school vision, mission, goals to parents and community.
• Provide leadership to promote student academic, social, behavioral and emotional success.
• Support school-wide programs (RTI, PBIS, peer tutoring, mediation, crisis intervention).
• Promote understanding of childhood development and effective interventions.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers and administrators to address barriers to learning.
• Participate in crisis team and provide crisis intervention for students and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned; master degree preferred; citizenship/residency or work visa required.

Job Description

Provide diagnostic and consultative services, including psychometric assessment in cognitive and achievement areas as well as guidance in other assessment areas as part of the process of special education screening and evaluations, in collaboration with building-based teams, while adhering to laws and regulations established by IDEA 2004.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A Master’s Degree or higher in School Psychology, or related field;
• Experience in a public school environment; and
• Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, educational experience, school-level involvement and/or system-wide professional activities, and the interview process.

• RESPONSIBILITIES:
• With a multidisciplinary team, gather student data and administer a wide range of evaluations for children with mild to severe special education needs;
• Maintain currency in the area of special education legislation and case law and document adherence to timelines and notification requirements for special education
• Provide ongoing communication with parents throughout the evaluation process;
• Interpret the district and school's vision, mission, core values and goals to parents and community;
• Provide leadership within the schools to promote the success of students academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally
• Provide support and leadership for the implementation of school/system-wide programs such as Rti, PBIS, peer tutoring, mediation, crisis intervention, parent and staff training;
• Promote understanding of childhood development, learning readiness, and effective interventions and strategies to maximize learning
• Work with parents, teachers, and administrators to identify, understand and resolve academic, social, and emotional barriers to learning
• Participate in the crisis team and provide crisis intervention for students and staff
• Support students and families regarding social and emotional needs and consult with outside mental health agencies and related professionals;
• Promote wellness and resilience by reinforcing effective communication and social skills, problem solving, anger management, self regulation, self-determination, and optimism
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or designee
• Master degree preferred.
