Job summary

Kelso School District is offering a School Psychologist Internship for the 2026-27 school year. The stipend is $6,500.00. Interns work under field-based supervision to gain experience in assessments, counseling, case management, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

The program emphasizes compliance with IDEA, FERPA/HIPAA guidelines, and district policies, with assignments across buildings as needed and a focus on professional development.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of disability laws (WAC 392-172A, IDEA '04, Section 504, etc.).
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing using district hardware/software.
• Ability to administer standardized tests.
• Flexible schedule and travel between buildings.
• Experience with interdisciplinary/interagency teams.
• Diversity awareness and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Assist with assessments and interpret results for eligibility and program needs.
• Participate as a team member in special education assessment, eligibility and program design.
• Assist with case management and coordination.
• Assist with required reports in an accurate and timely manner; maintain compliance paperwork.
• Provide group and individual counseling and social skills training as indicated on IEPs.
• Consult with parents, staff and administration regarding student needs.
• Understand and follow current legislation on children with disabilities.
• Follow district policies and procedures.
• Provide crisis intervention to students when appropriate.
• Participate in interagency teams.
• Maintain student confidentiality according to HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
• Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies.
• Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
