Job summary

New Bedford Public School District is seeking a School Psychologist to join the PRAB - Student Services team in New Bedford, MA. The role involves comprehensive evaluations, team collaboration, and data-driven planning to support student learning and behavior supports.

Qualifications

  • Completion of CAGS, Educational Specialist (EdS) or higher in School Psychology.
  • DESE Certification as School Psychologist in Massachusetts.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a practicing School Psychologist.
  • BCBA recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, interpret, and use psychological tests, functional behavior assessments, and other evaluation materials for comprehensive reports.
  • Participate in TEAM process for children with or suspected special needs and plan educational programs.
  • Help school teams use data to plan instruction and support learning standards and access to curriculum.
  • Identify students in need of support and coordinate appropriate action steps with special education staff.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring behavior intervention plans for students in regular or special education settings.
  • Provide ongoing consultation and modeling of therapeutic strategies for teaching teams.
  • Collaborate with collateral agencies to provide preventative programs like Signs of Suicide and Olweus Bullying Prevention.
  • Be part of the district-wide Trauma Response Team to support students and staff after traumatic events.
  • Maintain accurate student and staff records and manage assessment caseloads per timelines.
