Crystal Lake School District 47 currently has an opening for a Bilingual (Spanish/English) School Psychologist. The goal of this position is to provide services within the schools that facilitate the growth and development of all students. Responsibilities include providing services to students whose educational, social, emotional, and/or psychological development is at-risk or restricted due to ability, academic, behavior, social, and/or emotional difficulties.

Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Consult and collaborate with staff and parents about program development, prevention measures, early interventions, and assessment of students’ difficulties.
  2. Serve as a contributing member on building and district level teams (e.g., crisis team, problem-solving/RtI teams, student services building teams).
  3. Conduct valid educational assessments (formal and informal), interpret student information, and communicate student needs clearly to staff and parents.
  4. Facilitate IEP meetings, ensure paperwork compliance, complete state reporting forms, and act as a district representative to ensure parents understand their rights and team recommendations.
  5. Supervise the provision of special education services.
  6. Possess knowledge of district curriculum and resources to effectively allocate resources.
  7. Provide individual and group counseling to support student development and problem-solving.
  8. Participate in crisis intervention for individual, school, and district-wide crises.
  9. Stay current with research and practices relevant to psychology and education.
  10. Collaborate with staff to plan and conduct in-service presentations or distribute newsletters to enhance understanding of student development.
  11. Serve as a liaison between the community and school.
  12. Maintain familiarity with legal mandates, laws, and ethical standards affecting professional responsibilities.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills And Experience Required
  1. Professional Educator License.
  2. School Psychologist endorsement.
  3. A Master’s/Specialist Degree in School Psychology or equivalent.
  4. Minimum of 2 years school psychology experience preferred.
  5. Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  6. Strong report writing skills.
  7. Knowledge of standardized tests and their interpretation at various development levels.
  8. Understanding of policies and procedures related to special education law.
Physical/Mental Requirements
  1. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting equipment and materials.
  2. Demonstrate flexibility, interpersonal skills, articulation, concentration, confidentiality, and organization.
  3. High levels of flexibility, articulation, concentration, and confidentiality.
