The purpose of a school psychologist in Elmhurst CUSD 205 is to help all students reach their full capacity as learners by fostering student health and wellness, supporting student’s ability to learn and the teacher’s ability to teach. School psychologists apply expertise in mental health, assessment, learning and behavior in order to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.
Qualifications
- Illinois Professional Educator License registered in DuPage County and endorsed as a School Psychology
- Spanish bilingual is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities- Partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.
- Meet the needs of all student learners in a compassionate and understanding way through positive encouragement and development of trust in a safe and appropriate environment.
- Data-Based Decision Making and Accountability
- Conduct psychoeducational assessments with respect to cultural, academic, behavioral, intellectual or social-emotional needs tailored to the referral question.
- Participate and prepare for facilitation of problem solving meetings within a model of Multi-Tiered Support Services.
- Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings to determine the eligibility and appropriate planning for students who require special education programs and services.
- Consultation and Collaboration
- Facilitate collaboration with school student support services team as well as with teaching staff, administrators and parents.
- Provide or facilitate individual or group mental-behavioral counseling support.
- Design and maintain effective behavioral support plans at the student, school or district level.
- Facilitate interventions and instructional support to develop academic, behavioral or social emotional skills.
- Assessment of student needs and presenting problems based on the students’ current level of functioning and with respect for the students’ life styles, values and coping abilities.
This position is for the 2025-2026 school year.
