School Psychologist

Special Programs

Role Mission :

The School Psychologist is a key member of the Special Programs team and partners with regional instructional leaders, campus leaders, and teachers to maximize student outcomes. As a School Psychologist, you will demonstrate knowledge and skills in assessment, determining Special Education eligibility, providing academic and behavioral interventions, following state and federal legal frameworks for Special Education, and ensuring compliance with all facets of Special Education. You will support a portfolio of 1-2 campuses, assisting students and parents through problem-solving interventions for students who may be struggling academically and behaviorally. Additionally, you will provide direct behavioral supports to students and track progress toward IEP goals.

Reporting and Work Environment:

The School Psychologist reports directly to the regional Lead School Psychologist and collaborates closely with campus leaders at the assigned campuses. Some minor travel between campuses is involved.

Location:

This is a full-time, on-site position in Austin, TX. Preference will be given to candidates residing in the region or willing to relocate.

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities
Essential Duties:
  • Support special education teachers in developing appropriate IEP academic, behavioral, and social goals.
  • Ensure IEP services are provided as indicated in the ARD.
  • Achieve 100% compliance in Annual ARDs and submit all paperwork timely.
  • Collaborate with Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and other related personnel to complete ARD paperwork efficiently.
  • Maintain proper records and documentation of services.
  • Track counseling services and complete session notes.
  • Be trained in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) and conduct crisis counseling when necessary.
  • Guide campuses in interventions for students in emotional and behavioral crises.
  • Establish and execute Critical Student Instruction groups with fidelity.
  • Support 504 plan processes, including meetings, eligibility, homebound services, and Manifestation Determination.
  • Conduct dyslexia evaluations for 504 students.
  • Assist campuses in tracking and documenting interventions across Tiers I, II, and III.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary evaluations and ensure evaluations for Autism and Emotional Disturbance follow best practices.
  • Use up-to-date evaluation tools and adhere to APA Testing Standards.
  • Conduct evaluations for student accommodations, including College Board testing.
  • Assist in Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Guide interventions in Tiers II and III, ensuring appropriate prior interventions before referral.

  • Procedures for achievement and behavioral assessments, including cross-battery practices.
  • Prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management.
  • Psycho-social development knowledge.
  • Strong consultation skills with teachers, parents, and students.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests, deadlines, and priorities.
Required Experience:
  • Master’s degree in psychology from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas license as a School Psychologist issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
  • School Psychologist internship eligibility accepted with proof.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in overhead or confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to ___ pounds (specify weight).
  • Ability to work around children, including sitting, standing, running, and climbing stairs.
  • Ability to lift and carry children up to 40 pounds in emergencies.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Salaries typically range from $78,900 to $92,000, depending on experience and qualifications, with eligibility for performance pay.
