Job Summary: The School Psychologist plays a key role in collaborating with the school community to determine student's educational needs and provide recommendations for interventions and supports. Odyssey follows the NASP Practice Model as our school psychologists have a variety of roles and responsibilities including: support of the school's Multi-tiered System of Supports, conducting psychoeducational evaluations and functional behavioral assessments, coordinating behavioral supports, providing counseling supports and consulting with staff and families. Along with this the psychologist will meet with individual and groups for counseling and consult with school staff, parents, and outside agencies as appropriate. Our psychologist is responsible for the successful design, development, and implementation of intervention techniques; working with teachers and staff to analyze and assess data in order to improve the educational experience for our students.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience as a school psychologist (3 years preferred)


• Experience working in an urban school environment required


• An outstanding record of supporting the needs of teachers, students and their families elevating student achievement in an urban classroom, with a strong understanding of pedagogy that drives results.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ed.S., MA or Ph.D. in School Psychology


• Has or is eligible for State of Delaware Standard Certification as a School Psychologist


• Holds a valid Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) Certificate from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).


• Knowledge of roles and functions of a School Psychologist in an educational setting


• Experience with Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and knowledge of federal and state regulations


• Experience with Functional Behavior Assessments, Behavior Support Plan development, manifestation review determinations and collaborative problem solving

Essential Responsibilities

• Conducts psychoeducational evaluations to determine eligibility for special education including cognitive and achievement testing as well as adaptive and social/emotional measures meeting all School and State of Delaware deadlines


• Supports the school's Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) including consultation with the Problem-Solving team members in reviewing student response to interventions


• Evaluates the intellectual, academic, behavioral, perceptual-motor skills, emotional adjustment and readiness for learning of students.


• Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and assist in developing Behavior Support Plans.


• Provides individual and small group counseling supports using research-based techniques


• Provide professional development to relevant staff on topics related to behavior and classroom management, mental health and social emotional learning, and academic learning supports.


• Serves as a member of the School Crisis Intervention Team.


• Perform other related duties as assigned.
