Job description

Job Title: School Psychologist

Join to apply for the School Psychologist role at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Location: Thomaston, GA

Role Overview

Reports to: SPED Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Contract Days: 190 days

Retirement: TRS

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Respond appropriately and within federal and state guidelines to referrals for initial psychological assessment and reevaluation of children in special education programs.
  • Demonstrate a competent understanding of the psychometric characteristics of various assessment instruments.
  • Conduct consultative meetings with parents, teachers, and students.
  • Communicate assessment results and recommendations verbally and in written reports.
  • Participate in eligibility and program decisions to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Contribute to professional development activities.
  • Recommend appropriate remedial and intervention procedures.
  • Manage time and resources effectively.
  • Provide differential diagnosis for intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and emotional/behavioral disorders.
  • Maintain valid and appropriate licenses, certificates, or credentials as required.
  • Adhere to work schedules, attendance requirements, safety procedures, and legal and policy standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Hold or be eligible for required certification.
  • Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • High integrity, excellent character, and a good professional reputation.
  • Adhere to the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Ability to perform tasks involving standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective communication skills, including vision, hearing, and verbal/written abilities.
  • Ability to supervise students, especially during emergencies.
