POSITION OVERVIEW:

TITLE: School Psychologist

LOCATION(S): Site(s) served TBD

STATUS/FLSA: Full-time/Exempt

PAY SCHEDULE/GROUP: OT, PT, and Psychologist

DIRECT REPORTS: Full-time: (0); Part-time (0)

SUPERVISOR: Principal & Lead School Psychologist

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190 Days. Salary determined by schedule set by the Board.

EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the Principal with collaboration by the Lead School Psychologist.

General Description

As a part of a school-based team, the school psychologist will identify students in need of special education services and will provide support to special education students and special education classrooms.

Education

EDUCATION: Graduate degree in school psychology from an accredited college.

Experience

EXPERIENCE: Experience as a school psychologist in the public school setting is preferred, but not required

Licenses / Certifications
  • REQUIRED: SC educator certification as School Psychologist II or III
Essential Duties
  • Completes required psychoeducational evaluations within specified timelines.
  • Completes functional behavior assessments and assists in the development of behavior intervention plans.
  • Participates as a member of schools’ MTSS teams.
  • Assists in professional development and provides relevant training in appropriate areas.
  • Provides consultation, as requested by school administration, regarding needs of special education students

Additional Duties
  • Meets monthly with psychologists to collaborate on shared projects
  • Attends IEP meetings on an as-needed basis.
  • Maintains confidentiality concerning student records and data.
  • Participates in staff development programs.
  • Stays informed of current developments in the field of school psychology.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

In-depth knowledge of federal and state evaluation requirements for students with disabilities. Knowledge of behavioral and academic strategies appropriate for students with disabilities. Ability to professionally communicate professionally in writing and orally with teachers, administrators, and parents. Strong time-management and organizational skills.
