Job summary

SPG Therapy & Education is seeking School Psychologists for the 2026-2027 school year in New Mexico. You will conduct psychoeducational assessments for referred students and prepare comprehensive, legally defensible reports with diagnoses and specific recommendations.

You will certify eligible students for special education services, participate in IEP meetings, provide counseling, and support administrators, parents, students, and staff on procedures and mental health issues.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid New Mexico PreK-12 School Psychologist license.
• Able to work in person.
• Ability to connect with students and families, and collaborate with school teams.
• Eagerness to learn, grow, and continuously develop professional expertise.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychoeducational assessments for referred students in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
• Prepare comprehensive, legally defensible written reports with diagnoses and specific recommendations.
• Certify pupils’ eligibility for placement in special education services.
• Participate in IEP meetings and follow due process timelines.
• Provide counseling services to students as needed.
• Provide consultative support to administrators, parents, students and SPG staff on special education procedures and mental health issues.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Conduct psychoeducational assessments for referred students in accordance with New Mexico Department of Education and Federal guidelines.
• Prepare comprehensive, legally defensible written reports of assessment findings with diagnoses and specific recommendations, in accordance with State and Federal guidelines.
• Certify pupils' eligibility for placement in special education services, programs or classes in accordance with their individual physical, mental and emotional needs.
• Participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings, following due process timelines.
• Provide counseling services to students, as needed.
• Provide consultative support to administrators, parents, students, school-based personnel and SPG staff on matters pertaining to special education procedures and guidelines, mental health issues, child development, student behavior, learning problems and relevant intervention strategies and recommendations.
