Job summary

The Muscogee County School District is seeking a Police Dispatch to handle emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone calls, dispatch officers, monitor alarms, and maintain dispatch records. The role requires a High School Diploma/GED and offers a structured environment within the Police Department.

Under direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor, the dispatcher will support campus safety, coordinate with officers, and participate in ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma/GED required
• Experience: Two years in a similar role preferred
• Certifications/Requirements: Georgia P.O.S.T. Basic Communication Officer course or completion within six months of hire; GCIC Operator Certification or completion within six months; ICS 100, 200, and 700 certificates or completion within eight months; Valid Driver's License
• Physical Activities: Routine physical activities required
• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication; computer skills; strong problem solving and decision-making skills

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
• Answers telephone lines for information concerning calls for service
• Directs and/or dispatches school police officers to respond to calls for service in a fair, courteous and firm manner
• Dispatches school police officers to emergency and non-emergency situations for appropriate action
• Informs chain of command of campus security and/or criminal activities
• Maintains a variety of files and records for future reference and audit
• Monitors alarm systems to maintain a safe and secure facility
• Participates in unit meetings for information required to perform job functions
• Receives and transmits pertinent information to patrols in the field
• Records essential information for the Dispatch Records Management System
• Responds to citizen requests for appropriate action
• Responds to inquiries regarding campus security issues with administration
• Performs other related duties as assigned
