Job summary

Muscogee County School District is seeking a Police Dispatch professional to handle emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone calls, dispatch officers, and coordinate information for security operations.

Starting immediately, the role requires high school diploma, related experience, and state certifications. The dispatcher will work under the Shift Supervisor in the Police Department, 249 workdays annually.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Minimum of two years of experience in a similar role preferred
• Georgia P.O.S.T. Basic Communication Officer course or completion within six months of hire
• GCIC Operator Certification or completion within six months of hire
• ICS 100, 200, and 700 certificates or completion within eight months of hire
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Written and oral communication; computer skills; strong problem solving and decision-making

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone lines for information concerning calls for service.
• Direct and dispatch school police officers to respond to calls for service.
• Dispatch officers to emergency and non-emergency incidents to resolve safety concerns.
• Inform chain of command of campus security and criminal activities for proper follow-up.
• Maintain dispatch records and related documentation for audits and policy compliance.
• Monitor alarms and security systems to maintain a safe facility.
• Participate in meetings to improve job knowledge and procedures.
• Transmit pertinent information to patrols and field personnel.
• Record essential data in Dispatch Records Management System.
• Respond to citizen inquiries regarding campus security and safety matters.
