  • Administers first aid providing emergency medical care.
  • Assists community law enforcement personnel for school environment support.
  • Collaborates with community agencies for safety and investigations.
  • Communicates safety and enforcement policies to students, staff and visitors.
  • Investigates campus incidents for appropriate action.
  • Participates in meetings and trainings.
  • Patrols school facilities to deter crime.

POSITION TITLE: School Police, Part Time

FLSA: Non-Exempt

SALARY: $45.00 hourly

WORK DAYS: As Needed

LOCATION: Security Department

REPORTS TO: Chain of Command

Primary Function: The job of SCHOOL POLICE, PART-TIME was established for the purpose/s of identifying potential problems regarding welfare, safety and/or security of students, personnel, visitors and/or site; maintaining safety at school site by enforcing disciplinary policies and regulations; communicating information and responding to inquires; and providing emergency care to students and other individuals.

  • 1. Educational Level: High School Diploma or GED
  • 2. Certification/License Required: Georgia POST Certified Peace Officer with Current Muscogee County Employment in Law Enforcement
  • 3. Experience: Patrol or Investigative Experience Preferred
  • 4. Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities;
  • 5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication; administering first aid and CPR; handling hazardous materials; knowledge of pertinent codes, regulations & laws; safety precautions & procedures; techniques for diffusing hostile situations
  • 1. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  • 2. Administers first aid providing immediate emergency medical care.
  • 3. Assists community law enforcement personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities within the school environment.
  • 4. Collaborates with community agencies (e.g. law enforcement, courts, health care, etc.) for the purpose of addressing individual cases and/or taking action regarding investigations, criminal activities, gang activities, vandalism, etc. for the safety and security of the school site.
  • 5. Communicates safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff and visitors for the purpose of ensuring their understanding of such information and the potential consequences of violation.
  • 6. Investigates potential campus crimes and/or student related community incidents for the purpose of resolving conflicts, taking appropriate action, and/or referring to outside agency for resolution.
  • 7. Participates in unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. as required for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
  • 8. Patrols school facilities (e.g. grounds, roads, buildings, adjacent areas, parking lots, etc.) for the purpose of providing visibility, maintaining security, and deterring criminal activities.
  • 9. Prepares a variety of documents (e.g. incident reports, activity logs, memos, letters, procedures, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • 10. Responds to a variety of situations (e.g. accidents, injuries, vandalism, suspicious activities, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking the appropriate action to resolve immediate safety and/or security concerns.
  • 11. Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources regarding campus security issues for the purpose of providing information, direction and/or referral for addressing inquiry.
  • 12. Testifies in court proceedings for the purpose of providing information regarding alleged illegal activity.
  • 13. Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
