City Schools of Decatur is seeking a School Physical Therapist to develop and implement a school-based physical therapy program, including screening, evaluations and intervention services for students.

The role requires licensure in Georgia, collaboration with teachers and families, and adherence to regional standards for school services. The position supports students’ access to educational activities within the Georgia system.

Competenze

• Degree in physical therapy from an accredited program.
• Licensed to practice physical therapy in the State of Georgia.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; organization and time management.

• Adhere to professional, ethical and legal standards of practice.
• Gather information from students, parents, guardians and team members regarding student’s motor performance in the school setting.
• Select, administer and interpret screening instruments and standardized measurement tools.
• Form partnerships with school staff to promote an effective physical therapy plan of care for students.
• Provide physical therapy to students in accordance with the Georgia Physical Therapy Act.
• Examine and evaluate students’ strengths and needs to determine participation in school activities.
• Adapt environments to facilitate student access and participation in education.
• Consult with school personnel, parents and students to coordinate therapy services.
• Participate in the IEP/504 process to determine needs for therapy.
• Communicate and collaborate with colleagues, supervisors and students.
• Demonstrate consultative skills in conferences with parents, teachers and students.
• Maintain documentation of services rendered.
• Refer students to related service personnel and healthcare providers as appropriate.
