Qualifications

  • Degree in physical therapy from an accredited program.
  • Licensed to practice physical therapy in the State of Georgia.
  • Experience in school-based PT services is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to professional, ethical and legal standards of practice.
  • Gather information from students, parents, guardians and other team members about functional motor performance.
  • Select, administer and interpret screening instruments and standardized tools.
  • Form partnerships with school staff and administration to promote an effective PT plan of care.
  • Provide physical therapy to students in accordance with applicable state laws.
  • Evaluate students to establish participation in meaningful school activities.
  • Adapt environments to facilitate student access and participation.
  • Coordinate PT services as a consultant to school personnel, parents, and students.
  • Participate in the IEP/504 process to determine PT need.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
  • Demonstrate consultative skills in conferences.
  • Maintain documentation of services rendered.
  • Refer students to related services and healthcare providers as appropriate.
  • Serve as a liaison among school, medical personnel, and equipment vendors.
  • Maintain organization and time management.
