Job summary
State of South Carolina is seeking an Orientation and Mobility professional to collaborate with school staff and provide O&M therapy designed to increase specific skills for students who are blind or visually impaired. You will consult with parents, medical staff, teachers and administrators to promote independence in campus design and learning environments.
The role requires a Bachelor's in Orientation and Mobility with ACVREP certification and experience with visually impaired students.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Orientation and Mobility with ACVREP certification.
- Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired.
- Ability to provide O&M instruction and consultation to families and caregivers.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with school/agency staff to schedule visits and provide O&M therapy.
- Consult with parents, medical staff, teachers and professionals on students' needs.
- Assess and develop individualized O&M treatment plans to increase independence for blind students.
- Provide O&M instruction and consultation in natural environments for infants and toddlers.
