Job summary

Shelby County Schools is seeking a dedicated cafeteria worker to assist the School Nutrition Supervisor in preparing and serving nutritious meals for students and staff. The role emphasizes safe handling, cleaning, and maintaining sanitary work areas in a school environment.

Responsibilities include following recipes and schedules, monitoring temperatures for safety, setting up serving lines, stocking supplies, and possibly operating a point-of-sale terminal.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and ability to pass background check and TB test.
• Minimum six months of quantity food preparation or related experience.
• May serve as cashier and operate a POS terminal.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals for students and staff.
• Follow recipes, check menus, and assemble ingredients.
• Monitor times and temperatures for safety per HACCP regulations and maintain cleanliness of areas and equipment.
• Set up serving lines, stock supplies, and provide courteous service.
• Attend trainings and meetings to maintain knowledge and skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
