Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools is seeking a Candidate Pool Food Service Assistant for Citywide School Support. The role involves assisting in the nutrition center or school kitchen, preparing and serving meals, and maintaining sanitary conditions in a fast-paced food service environment.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, some food handling experience, and the ability to work a variety of hours; benefits include dental, health, vision, PTO, HSA & FSA, and a retirement plan.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent; some food handling experience is preferred.
• Ability to follow safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Food Service Department staff with basic food preparation and proper food storage.
• Maintains cleanliness of the food service areas, dining spaces, and equipment.
• Receives, transports, and stores food following sanitary handling standards.
• Prepares dining area for meals and serves meals as directed.
• Counts products received and shipped; provides accurate numbers for production and inventory.
