Job summary

Tuscaloosa City Schools seeks a Child Nutrition Program Manager to lead daily kitchen operations, ensure safety, sanitation, and nutritious meals for students. You will supervise staff, manage production schedules, monitor inventories, and maintain records per district policy.

This role requires strong organization, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work effectively with teachers, students and administrators in a busy school environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in quantity food production and service desirable.
  • 1+ years with a Child Nutrition Program or 3 years in food service.
  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation, food preparation methods, and equipment used in quantity food prep.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and instructs kitchen personnel in the safe, proper and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
  • Maintains safety and cleanliness standards in the kitchen.
  • Checks food shipments against invoices and verifies orders.
  • Determines daily quantities of food to be prepared according to guidelines.
  • Ensures that students are served appropriate portions.
  • Prepares food using approved menus and standard recipes, ensuring quality in taste and appearance.
  • Maintains inventory of USDA donated foods.
  • Secures food storage areas and exterior doors; takes precautions to protect the food service areas.
