Job summary

Tuscaloosa City Schools seeks a dedicated Child Nutrition Program Assistant to support meal preparation, service and sanitation in a school kitchen. Reports to the Child Nutrition Program Manager and helps ensure attractive, nutritious meals in a clean and efficient environment.

Responsibilities include setting up meals, assisting with cooking and cleaning, maintaining records, following health and sanitation standards, and adhering to schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to do simple mathematics.
• Ability to learn prescribed preparation methods of handling food supplies.
• Ability to organize, file and retrieve information as needed.
• Ability to complete production records.
• Ability to work with both hands when assigned food preparation.
• Read and interpret recipes and instructions.
• Ability to use equipment timers and controls.
• Capable of standing six hours in kitchen environments.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties related to the preparation of school meals: setting up, cooking, cleaning, washing, mopping and inventory.
• Becomes skilled in the use of equipment used in work assignments.
• Adheres to work schedules and assignments.
• Attends work regularly and on time.
• Reports work-related injuries as required.
• Completes records as specified.
• Adheres to dress code and health guidelines.
• Participates in in-service training opportunities.
• Maintains a positive, friendly attitude in all job relationships.
• Performs duties with/without reasonable accommodation.
