Job summary

Rockbridge County Public School is hiring a School Nutrition Food Service Worker to prepare, serve, and maintain a clean school cafeteria environment. You will ensure food is handled safely and served to students and staff with a positive dining experience.

The role requires following USDA guidelines, maintaining temperatures, and supporting on-site catering events. Physical work includes standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and assisting with daily menu execution.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience preferred.
• SERV Safe Food Certification preferred.
• Experience with student meal account management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, steamers, slicers, and dishwashers safely and efficiently.
• Monitor and maintain proper food temperatures during preparation, cooking, holding, and serving to USDA/health standards.
• Assist with inventory control, including receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies.
• Prepare and serve meals in accordance with daily menu, USDA guidelines, and portion control standards.
• Accept payments for student meals and reconcile the ledger.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, serving areas, cafeteria, tray lines, dining utensils, and equipment.
• Attend staff meetings and complete required training.
• Provide back-up during staffing shortages.
• Other duties as assigned.
