Job summary

Rockbridge County Public School is hiring a School Nutrition Food Service Worker to prepare, serve, and maintain a clean school cafeteria environment. You will ensure food is handled safely and served to students and staff with a positive dining experience.

The role requires following USDA guidelines, maintaining temperatures, and supporting on-site catering events. Physical work includes standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and assisting with daily menu execution.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum of one year of relevant experience preferred.
SERV Safe Food Certification preferred.
Experience with student meal account management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, steamers, slicers, and dishwashers safely and efficiently.
Monitor and maintain proper food temperatures during preparation, cooking, holding, and serving to USDA/health standards.
Assist with inventory control, including receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies.
Prepare and serve meals in accordance with daily menu, USDA guidelines, and portion control standards.
Accept payments for student meals and reconcile the ledger.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, serving areas, cafeteria, tray lines, dining utensils, and equipment.
Attend staff meetings and complete required training.
Provide back-up during staffing shortages.
Other duties as assigned.
