Job summary

HORIZON in Johnston, Iowa is seeking a Nutrition - Variable Hour Cook to assist with food preparation, serving and cleanup for the School Nutrition Department. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and experience in food service, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Work hours are Monday–Friday from 8:30am to 1:45pm. Salary ranges from $18.34 to $20.84 per hour, with IPERS and other benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Food service preparation experience desired.
• Ability to read and write English, perform simple arithmetic, and follow directions.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs safely.
• Ability to relate to children and work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve foods for the School Nutrition Department.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment.
• Assist with serving lines and food presentation.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and interview procedures as required.
• Support staff and communicate effectively with colleagues.
