Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated individual to assist the cafeteria manager in planning, managing, and monitoring kitchen operations and food preparation. You will help forecast production, manage inventories, and support records and reporting for meals served.

Responsibilities include assisting with ordering, checking deliveries, scheduling staff, and ensuring compliance with USDA and district guidelines.

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of food preparation management operation and sanitation practices.
• Working knowledge of federal/state health and nutrition requirements and sanitation practices.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and reconcile accounts.
• Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, staff and public.
• Desire to continue career improvement.

Responsibilities

• Assist manager in ordering weekly food and supplies by established due dates and forecast production requirements.
• Assist manager in checking quality, quantity, and accuracy of weekly deliveries and invoices.
• Assist manager in forecasting production needs and planning employee work schedules to meet meal requirements.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of kitchen supplies and food.
• Plan and participate in pre-preparation of food and catering functions as needed.
• Assist in maintaining records for free/reduced/paid lunches and payroll records.
• Process prepayments and customer accounts, deposits and reports.
• Assist in counting and balancing cash and making deposits.
• Work with staff to identify and correct problems and follow safety guidelines.
• Assume responsibility of kitchen operations in manager's absence.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
