Job summary

Salem School District is seeking a Food Service Worker/Cashier to support the nutrition program in school buildings. You will assist in meal preparation, serve meals with a focus on efficiency and warmth, and help achieve USDA standards under the Site Lead and Director of School Nutrition. Training for Serv Safe and POS use will be provided as needed.

The role is part-time, with a school-year schedule and starting hourly pay of 16.85 USD, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service, including quantity cooking preferred.
• Must be physically capable; stand, walk, bend for long periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
• Familiarity with food service products and safety practices.
• Ability to learn and work with POS software; Serv Safe certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient, pleasant customer service.
• Assist in food preparation according to site guidelines.
• Replenish food and condiments during service periods.
• Follow meal component and portion guidelines.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen, dishroom, cafeteria and equipment.
• Enter meal counts and deposits into POS system; complete related docs.
