Qualifications

• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Employed as approved by the Board of Education.
• Experience as school nurse substitute preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assumes all responsibilities or duties assigned to the absent nurse.
• Follows and presents lessons as outlined by the absent nurse.
• Adheres to front office check-in procedures.
• Reviews with the principal plans and schedules during the school day.
• Maintains the established routines of the school.
• Supervises and accounts for students during activities; may have additional duties.
• Serves as a positive role model; manages student behavior per district policies.
• Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Upholds technology acceptable use policies.
• Communicates with the regular nurse about activities.
• Reports to the principal at end of day and checks out.
• Adheres to District 44 Substitute Handbook.
• Keeps current with best practices and requirements related to the job.
