Job summary

Brightway Living & Learning is a premier nonprofit on Long Island providing educational, residential, day habilitation, and vocational programs. We are seeking a NY-licensed RN to support students with developmental disabilities, administer medications and maintain health records, and respond to medical needs with a focus on safety and care.

You will work with a dedicated team, participate in ongoing training, and contribute to a supportive learning environment that values dignity and inclusion

Qualifications

• Must be a New York State-licensed Registered Nurse.
• Relevant experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to ensure safety of children and respond to emergencies.
• Ability to move/transport a child and navigate classroom and playground spaces.

Responsibilities

• Attend to students daily and monitor health needs.
• Treat illnesses and injuries; record and notify parents.
• Administer medications daily and maintain up-to-date records.
• Maintain up-to-date student records including physicals and immunizations.
• Administer mantoux tests for staff and new employees; maintain records.
• Provide staff in-services (OSHA, universal precautions, safety).
• Handle medical emergencies within the building; complete incident reports.
• Order medical supplies; perform other duties as assigned.
